First Look: The Smooth Scoundrel Goes Solo In Lando #1
By Nick Tylwalk
It’s time for the smoothest, suavest character from the original Star Wars trilogy to get his due. I’m talking about the lovable scoundrel with a heart of gold, the former owner of the Millennium Falcon and administrator of Cloud City, Lando Calrissian. In fact, go ahead and just call him Lando, as long as you remember he’s a man and not a system.
Charles Soule and Alex Maleev know that all too well, which is why they’re joining forces on Lando #1, the first in a five-issue limited series. Set in-between Episodes IV and V like the other Star Wars comics, Lando hasn’t yet found that cushy gig on Bespin. He’s trying to make a name for himself the only way he knows how, using his smile, his swagger and a few swindles to get ahead.

He also has his trusty sidekick Lobot to help him, and we probably know less about him than any other Star Wars good guy that there is. Together, they’re going to attempt to pull off the heist of the century, looking to steal one of the most valuable objects in the whole galaxy.
Will they succeed? I’m pretty sure Soule and Maleev would like us to read the book and find out. Lando #1 makes its way to stores and digital on July 8, but we’re happy to provide a first look at some of Maleev’s interior art, along with variant covers by Leinil Yu, Skottie Young, Alex Ross and John Cassaday. That’s a lot of Lando, but let’s be honest: you can’t ever have too much Lando.
