If you still haven’t sounded off on who you think would be the perfect actor to play the latest, and perhaps youngest, version of Spider-Man to hit the big screen, you might be running out of time.

Last week, reports suggested that alleged favorite Asa Butterfield and Chandler Riggs of The Walking Dead were out of the running, leaving only three me still in contention to portray the shared Marvel/Sony version of the wall-crawler. Now Deadline is saying the decision could come this week, as whoever lands the gig is going to be needed for Captain America: Civil War, which is currently filming.

The consensus opinion is that the new Spider-Man wouldn’t be needed on set until next month, but Deadline seemed to be drawing a possible connection between the fact that Tom Holland was in Atlanta over the weekend and the Civil War shoot taking place in that same vicinity. Holland is said to be Sony’s top choice for the role, with Marvel preferring Charlie Plummer.

No matter who ends up slinging webs, an announcement over the casting, whenever it comes, should kick buzz over Captain America: Civil War into overdrive. That would work out nicely for Marvel to promote the upcoming Ant-Man movie, particularly since Paul Rudd’s size-changing hero has been confirmed to have a hand in Civil War as well.

Our first look at the new Spidey in costume will come when Captain America: Civil War releases on May 6, 2016.
