Though Ant-Man probably doesn’t need a lot of advertising due to just being part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ marketing engine is still leaving nothing to chance. To emphasize the upcoming film’s connection to the rest of the Avengers, and to also show a unique proposition, Ant-Man, in a series of posters, is seen posed with some iconic elements from his future team members.
Though Ant-Man didn’t make his appearance as one of the original members of the Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the comic source material had him as a founding member. In the comics, the original Ant-Man, Hank Pym, was also the creator of Ultron. This summer’s Avengers: Age of Ultron took some liberties with that history and made Tony Stark the sole inventor of Ultron. Fans were divided by this decision, but the blockbuster sequel to the 2012 hit still broke box-office records.
Set to release in the United States on July 17, 2015, Ant-Man will close out Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The film is being directed by Peyton Reed, written by Gabriel Ferrari, Andrew Barrer, and Adam McKay, and starring Paul Rudd as Scott Lang / Ant-Man, Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne, Corey Stoll as Darren Cross / Yellowjacket, Bobby Cannavale as Paxton, Michael Peña as Luis, Judy Greer as Maggie, Tip “T.I.” Harris as Dave, David Dastmalchian as Kurt, Wood Harris as Gale, Jordi Mollà as Castillo, and Michael Douglas as Dr. Hank Pym / Ant-Man.
