It looks like the Batman show that is set before Batman will lead all of the super hero shows into the new TV season this fall.

I’m talking about Gotham, of course, which will return for Season 2 at 8 pm on Monday, September 21. It will be followed by the series premiere of Minority Report, a series set in the world of the Tom Cruise movie of the same name.

By making its debut the third full week of September, Gotham will be back with us before any of the other super hero fare scheduled for this fall. ABC’s Agents of SHIELD won’t kick off its third season until September 29, and The CW announced earlier this week that its duo of returning DC shows, Arrow and The Flash, won’t be back on the air until early October.

Supergirl will follow even later that on CBS, and unless someone has a change of heart, will compete directly against Gotham at 8 pm on Monday nights. It can probably stand up to competition from the Girl of Steel; despite griping in some corners about the writing on Gotham, it had the best ratings of any super hero show on TV last season, pulling in more than 6 million viewers per episode and averaging a 2.19 rating in the 18-49 demo.
