Ant-Man Has Two Post-Credits Scenes
By Nick Tylwalk
(Note: This article contains mild spoilers for Ant-Man, which hits theaters on July 17. Read on, but be forewarned!)
We haven’t had a chance to see Ant-Man yet, but some media outlets have. And while they aren’t allowed to discuss the movie with official reviews just yet, they do want you to know something important: unlike Avengers: Age of Ultron, you need to stay the whole way through the closing credits.
RELATED: Why Age of Ultron Had No Post-Credits Scene
Age of Ultron did have a mid-credits tag, but Ant-Man returns to prior Marvel Cinematic Universe tradition and actually throws in one of those and a legit post-credits scene, one that comes after all the text is done rolling. These scenes have been fan favorites in the past, and arguably are even more important for a movie like Ant-Man where it’s possible a big chunk of the audience might not get how he fits into the larger picture.
Speaking of that, while we certainly don’t want these two scenes spoiled for us, we did read what SuperHeroHype said about the two scenes:
"While Ant-Man has been said to be the end of Marvel Studios’ Phase 2, it’s actually worth staying through the end credits, because there are two end credit tags that tease the upcoming Phase 3, which starts with Captain America: Civil War in May of 2016, as well as the future of Ant-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe."
Ladies and gentlemen, start your speculation engines … now! Kevin Fiege and the Marvel brain trust have been hinting that Ant-Man might be a bigger (pun semi-intended) part of the overall MCU puzzle than fans might naturally expect, so this is good news. I can’t be alone in thinking the wait until July 17 is seeming longer all the time now that I’m so curious to see what Marvel has up its sleeve.
