Marvel chief Kevin Feige says Spider-Man is a ‘Sony Picture’

One of the biggest positives to come out of the deal between Sony and Marvel was the idea that Marvel studios would be calling the shots with the new Spider-Man movie and finally bring us Spider-Fans a Spider-Man movie of the same calibre as the Avengers, or Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

We wouldn’t want to do it if we couldn’t do it in the way we’ve done all the other movies

However there’s still an element of doubt as to who, out of Marvel and Sony, truly is calling the shots behind the Spider-Man movie and Spider-Fans might be disappointed to see who Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige really thinks is in charge.

"“We’re producing it for Sony. It’s exciting, and we’re treating it like we treat all of our films. To try to make the best version now of Spider-Man and a version of Spider-Man that inhabits this universe that we’ve created. Without getting into the contracts, it’s definitely a Sony picture, produced by Marvel Studios. We’ve been working with each other for a number of months now. It’s been just as healthy as any of our internal discussions. We just look at it as having additional team members. We wouldn’t want to do it if we couldn’t do it in the way we’ve done all the other movies, and I think that’s what Sony wants from us.”"

Feige made the comments during an interview with THR and pretty much flat out states that Sony own the film. However there is a small element of subtext in there suggesting that Marvel might be in control of the majority of the decisions but the whole thing is as cagey as the speculation has been.
