Spencer’s Arkham Knight Fan Gear Collection Product Reviews

facebooktwitterreddit

We told you a couple weeks back about the collection of apparel and other items inspired by Batman: Arkham Knight that was being featured at Spencer’s stores and in the retailer’s online shop. Of course, lots of stuff looks cool on the computer screen, but how does this fan gear turn out when you’re actually holding it in your hands? We got to see some of the pieces in person to find out.

Nightwing 179 Seatbelt

Amusingly, my wife didn’t understand the concept for this item, which you can see pictured above. Put simply, it’s a belt for your pants but designed and made like a seat belt, with the same kind of buckle instead of a standard belt buckle.

It’s more difficult to find the right size than simply moving on to the next hole on a standard belt, but it’s simple to adjust and once you find the proper length, you’re all set. The only other slight drawback is that the part of the belt where you actually adjust the length can get caught on normal-sized belt loops, so this isn’t the greatest for situations where you’d have to take off your belt quickly — like, say, before you go through airport security.

Other than that, it’s pretty great if you’re a Nightwing fan, with his logo all the way around the belt itself and featured on the buckle. Sure to draw some admiring comments from fellow comic book fans, one would think.

Nightwing Logo Snapback Hat

Sticking with Mr. Grayson, we’ve got a snapback hat that also shows off the Nightwing logo with bright blue raised embroidery on the front, filled in with a textured fabric that is almost like ballistic nylon. The brim and button also have the same material, and there’s a small Nightwing logo on the back near the enclosure.

The big crown and flat bill are similar to what you’d see from a New Era 9Fifty snapback, and the fit and construction seem pretty good, which is always something that can be dicey with hats. A warning to people with big heads: I wear a 7 3/4 fitted hat and needed to use the very last snap to get this to fit comfortable.

The official product description says that this hat would be a good way to stand out from the crowd of people with Superman and Batman hats, and it’s hard to argue that.

Arkham Harley Quinn Snapback Hat

This is an actual New Era 9Fifty snapback, that has a high crown and comes with  flat brim, though it’s easy enough to curve it if desired. The body is black with a full front graphic of Harley Quinn taken directly from the Arkham Knight in-game artwork. The game’s logo is also embroidered in red with the “Arkham Knight” name underneath.

The brim and button are a dark red, as is the New Era flag on the left side. In terms of fit, I found it to be similar to the Nightwing hat, though it’s definitely lighter and probably cooler to wear in the summer.

Hard to go wrong with this if you’re a fan of the video game version of Miss Harley, and the suggested retail price of $24.99 is a good one for a hat like this.

Arkham Knight Bifold Wallet

This is exactly what it looks like: a black, bifold wallet with a graphic of Batman and the Batmobile from Arkham Knight in a shiny blue and silver metallic color. It’s a little gaudy by my own personal taste, but my 7-year-old son flocked to it right away.

The inside of the currency portion has a light blue lining, and there’s a dedicated pocket for your ID, three credit card pockets on the right and hidden pockets on both sides. It doesn’t feel super substantial and probably wouldn’t take the place of a quality leather wallet, but it’s fun and could be great for kids or in some situation where you’re just out goofing around and not carrying anything really important.
