Marc Silvestri, Matt Hawkins Bringing Cyber Force To LINE Webtoon
By Nick Tylwalk
More than 20 years after it first launched as one of the first wave of Image Comics titles, Marc Silvestri’s Cyber Force is still going strong. And starting this fall, fans will be able to experience it in a brand new way.
LINE Webtoon announced today that the next chapter of Cyber Force will debut exclusively on the digital comics service this fall, with new stories written by Top Cow Productions president Matt Hawkins. In addition, the series will be tied into the print comic Aphrodite IX (also written by Hawkins), giving readers incentive to check back online for the weekly Cyber Force installments to enjoy the entire saga.
Though LINE Webtoon got its start in Korea, it’s been live in the U.S. since 2014 and has been ramping up both its offerings and talent roster. The company also announced a new digital series called The Enchantress by YouTube personality Michelle Phan, but its bet on Cyber Force and Top Cow is one that’s even more rooted in presenting traditional comic books via new channels.
“When LINE Webtoon launched in the U.S. in 2014, we always had a vision of adding premium content by the best comic minds in the industry to our platform; adding Marc Silvestri to our stable of already impressive creators is a key part of this strategy,” JunKoo Kim, Founder and Head of LINE Webtoon, said in a press release. “We’re thrilled to be able to offer Cyber Force exclusively on the Webtoon platform for free to all our readers and we can’t wait to have our fans experience the comic in this new format for the first time – something only LINE Webtoon can provide.”
To read Cyber Force when it launches, you’ll want to head to webtoons.com. LINE Webtoon also has a free app that is available from the iOS App Store, Google Play or the Amazon Appstore.
