Edited Batman V Superman Trailer Playing In IMAX

Last night, when I went to watch the premiere of Ant-Man, I re-experienced the new trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.  Something was amiss though.  I thought it was just me — due to being overly excited in seeing this footage on a giant screen with booming sound.  After the trailer ended, I turned to my friend and said, “Hey, did it seem shorter than the one online?”  He replied, “I think so.”

Well, it turns out it is.  The trailer being released in IMAX theaters is actually edited down.  I couldn’t specifically spot the differences first.  But upon a second viewing online, I noticed that they took out one of the credit title cards (From Director Zack Snyder) and also removed the scene that had the graffiti-vandalized Robin suit.  The result was a faster paced trailer that really moves.  Is it worse because of less footage?  No.  However, it punches you faster without anticipation.  It just shows how much of a difference editing makes in a film.  Check it out yourselves and do a comparison to the original.

Here’s the original full-length Comic-Con trailer:
