Gotham: Joker Is An Ideology

Is Cameron Monaghan’s Jerome Gotham’s Joker? While there certainly is a lot of evidence to point to that, everybody has been careful to stress that he might not be the Joker we’ve all come to know and fear.

In fact, Gotham EP Danny Cannon says that there isn’t just one Joker, but that the Joker is an ideology, and that it starts with Jerome:

"He’s locked up in Arkham right now. We get to meet him again and see what he’s blossomed into. Over the first episodes, we’ll see how his ideology spreads."

Gotham EP Bruno Heller expanded on how Gotham is treating the origins of The Joker:

"I very rarely say this, but I’m confident that fans of The Joker and fans of that aspect of the Batman series will not feel cheated but will feel like something’s been illuminated."

So will there be a cult of Joker in Gotham? Sounds intriguing. We’ll find out when season 2 starts September 21st on Fox!
