Is This The New ‘Batman v Superman’ Villain??

We’ve been hearing rumors of old school (and politically dated) Batman villain KGBeast popping up in Batman v Superman ever since the first plot/cast details began leaking out. Just like Mercy Graves – and unlike the supposed appearance of Metallo – those rumors seem to have proven true.

Character actor (and Hydra agent) Callan Mulvey had been reported to play some part in the film for quite a while now, so some brilliant people have begun to  put 2 and 2 together.  Since it’s now very, very obvious that he will not be playing The Joker as was previously rumored, this new theory

makes far more sense.

"At any rate, one of Luthor’s agents has a name, and that name is Anatoli Knyazev. Hardcore fans will recognize that as the name of the KGBeast, a Batman villain introduced in 1988’s classic Ten Nights of the Beast storyline. In that story the Beast, an enhanced agent of the KGB, came to the US to kill ten targets, and he did it with extreme measures, including poisoning an entire 200 person dinner party to get one guy. He battled Batman to a standstill, and at one point when entangled in the Batrope the KGBeast cut off his own hand to escape."

This all sounds like typical major-villain-as-small-plot-device cameo fare we see now in modern comic films, but totally plausible. Heroic Hollywood has presupposed the obvious and believes that Mulvey will be playing the more generic version of KGBeast. I’m actually pretty excited to see him onscreen in any form.
