An Odd Couple With Guns – Deadpool & Cable: Split Second Coming To Digital
By Nick Tylwalk
When talking about the true power couples of Marvel Comics, some obvious candidates come to mind. Reed and Sue Richards. Cyclops and Jean Grey. Black Panther and Storm, once upon a time, or maybe Black Bolt and Medusa. Forget all of them, though. Deadpool and Cable are where it’s at.
No, seriously. Yes, they have a tendency to annoy each other more than they get along (more Deadpool annoying Cable, if we’re being honest), and they do like to solve most issues with superior firepower instead of, you know, diplomacy or negotiation. But you can’t deny their raw entertainment value, which is why you’ll want to keep an eye out for Deadpool & Cable: Split Second #1, coming to Marvel’s digital comics platforms in October.
Two creators who already know this particular duo well, Fabian Nicieza and Reilly Brown, will be at the helm for the new digital series, with both of them writing and Brown handling the interior art and covers. As for what to expect, this should clue you in a bit:
"When Cable gets a vision of a terrible future brought on by the death of one man, he knows he must protect him no matter what! Three guesses who’s been hired to kill this guy. Go on, guess. Give up? It’s Deadpool. This isn’t going to be pretty…"
And it’s all being brought to you via the power of … technology! Marvel is promising that Deadpool & Cable: Split Second will “push the boundaries of what’s possible with digital comics.” Hopefully that means it’ll make it look like Deadpool is sitting on your couch reading along with you, kind of like the end of the Haunted Mansion at Disney World.
But I digress. Look for the first issue of this series on the Marvel Comics app or in the Marvel Digital Comics Shop in October. You won’t regret it. Probably.
