Tom Hardy Reveals DC Films Role!
By Skip Harvey
Tom Hardy had initially been cast in the role of Rick Flagg in Suicide Squad, he backed out due to what he claimed were scheduling conflicts.
After Jake Gyllenhaall passed and Joel Kinneman was handed the part, rumors swirled about Hardy’s concerns over script quality or even his reluctance to hitch his wagon to DC Films again.

We later heard the actor dispel that possibility when he teased a future DC project.
"I actually got something cooking with Warner Bros. which is also a comic book, it’s a DC thing which is kind of… It’s really good actually, it contains elements of all kinds of stuff. From Ocean’s Eleven, to Batman, you can get all the wrappers out and it would be a big, really cool, Technicolor, Pulp Fiction…It’s a psychological fuckfest, it’s absolutely awesome. It’s as if you would take Transmetropolitan and make it happen, but it’s not that out there it’s something which is much more real world. It could be like Heat, it could be fucking awesome."
We now have word on exactly this mystery film could be. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Hardy will tackle Vertigo’s gritty revenge and conspiracy book 100 Bullets by Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso.
"The project is already down the line in development, having a script by Chris Borrelli, whose credits include the recent supernatural horror movie The Vatican Tapes.Running for 100 issues from 1999 to 2009, the acclaimed comic centered on an enigmatic man named Agent Graves as he presents different people, for reasons unknown, with a gun, the identity of the person who ruined their lives … and a hundred rounds of untraceable ammunition."
I, for one, am all on board for this. 100 Bullets is a great piece of noir comic fiction and I can’t wait to see a property like this on the big screen. It actually seems more suited for TV, but since WB outsourced their Vertigo titles to New Line Cinema they’ve been fast tracking as many non-superhero properties as they can. Rumor has it that Hardy will star and serve as producer on the film.
