By Skip Harvey
The villains for Batman v Superman have been a source of conjecture since the day the film was announced at Comic-Con 2 years ago. Early reports had the heroes come together to defeat Metallo, Lex Luthor in his mech suit and, of course…

Doomsday. Yep, the giant, hulking foil of Superman’s from his death and rebirth story arc in the early 1990’s is rumored to be the weapon wielded by Luthor to take down the Man of Steel. Here’s what Heroic Hollywood had to say about the big fight, teased in the BvS trailer.
"In the recently released Batman v Superman trailer, we finally got our first glimpse of Gal Gadot in action as Wonder Woman. The upcoming film will be the first cinematic appearance of the warrior princess of the Amazon. She is quite the warrior princess in the film because she has an integral scene in the big showdown with Doomsday. I think glimpses of the mega fight were shown and hinted in the trailer as well.So in one corner we got Wonder Woman, in the other corner we got Doomsday. As UFC referee Big John McCarthy would say: “Are you ready? Are you ready? Let’s get it on!”During the fight with Doomsday, Wonder Woman draws that awesome sword of hers, swings it at Doomsday and manages to chop off the hand of the beast!Kind of reminds me when I was a kid and saw Perseus cut off Calibos’ hand in Clash of The Titans.Wonder Woman is badass and got skills but don’t count Doomsday out! He is still in the fight! Complications ensue because a BONE BLADE grows back where Doomsday’s hand used to be! In screenwriting that’s called a reversal. Now Doomsday got a blade of his own. What happens next?Find out when Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice drops in theaters on March 25, 2016."
This isn’t a surprise considering they even attempted to shoehorn Doomsday into the failed Tim Burton project Superman Lives. I personally hoped the character wouldn’t be used so much as a plot device the way it looks like it might shape up.
Doomsday is only an intimidating villain because he was the only creature capable of outright killing Superman. If they kill and resurrect Clark in this film it will seem cheap and have no emotional impact because we already know he comes back for more films and because they JUST introduced this version of him in the film before. If he is simply defeated by the Trinity, then he was kind of a waste of a character.
But they don’t let me write these things.
