Captain America: Civil War: Black Widow Vs. Hawkeye Confirmed At D23 Expo

Along with a spiffy new logo, which you can see above, Captain America: Civil War was in the spotlight in a major way at the D23 Expo this weekend. Along with an appearance by Captain America himself, Chris Evans, and the Falcon, Howard Mackie, fans in attendance were treated to a sizzle reel with footage of the upcoming film, which is closing in on the end of its shoot.

One of the sequences that drove home the idea that former pals will turn against each other in Civil War was a fight scene between Hawkeye and Black Widow. As fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe know, Clint Barton and Natasha Romanoff are close, to the point where Natasha is a de facto aunt to Clint’s children, as we saw in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

But it appears that reports putting them on opposite sides of the conflict in the third Captain America movie were correct. As they squared off, reports from D23 had them exchanging this dialogue:

"Black Widow: “We’re still friends, right?”Hawkeye: “Depends on how hard you hit me.”"

One expects that the heroes will eventually come together in the face of an even greater threat, but that’s not guaranteed — even for people with as much history together as these two.

Captain America: Civil War, which also features Iron Man, War Machine, Ant-Man, Vision, Winter Soldier, Scarlet Witch and maybe Spider-Man and Hulk in addition to the heroes we’ve already discussed, is getting set for its May 6, 2016 release.
