First Look at Michael Chiklis in ‘Gotham’!
By Skip Harvey
After a few stints in the superhero genre over the last decade, actor Michael Chiklis has decided to stick with what he knows. Now Chiklis is joining the cast of Gotham for season 2 as Captain Nathaniel Barnes.
Entertainment Weekly now has a first look at Chiklis and where the series is trying to correct mistakes from last season.
"Chiklis plays Captain Nathaniel Barnes, a “law and order zealot who lands on the GCPD like a tornado, ripping out the dead wood of Gotham’s police force.” Chiklis is a series regular and introduced in the fourth episode of Gotham season 2, titled “Strike Force” (a nod to Mackey’s lawless cop team on The Shield)."
It looks like the show will focus more on reoccurring characters and long story arcs, (thankfully). Ben McKenzie recently discussed the mistakes they made in the first go around and what they want to improve on for the future.
"I think we made a mistake relatively early on in trying to introduce a villain and take care of that villain in one episode: catch them, send them to Arkham, do whatever. That was just a mistake. We should’ve never done it… The audience really wants to understand who these people are and live with them, sit with them and enjoy them. Whether they’re evil or good, they are entertaining. So that’s what we’re doing in season 2. [It’s] really kick ass. I think it’s exactly what the fans want to see."
