Gotham: Barbara And Jerome Meet
By Steve Lam
A new Season 2 clip of Fox’s Gotham titled Damned If You Do has debuted and it seriously ups the ridiculousness of the show. I’ve been hoping that the summer break would allow the writers to reflect on what worked and what didn’t for Season 1. Alas, it seems that they thought a lot of their amateurish mistakes worked. You can’t really blame them, as this show has gotten high ratings which begs the question: What audience is giving it such accolades?
First off, what prison do you know has a co-ed population? And what prison do you know makes white and black bee-striped fitted dresses for women? Some will argue that this is a mental institution, so the mix of men and women isn’t that out of the ordinary. But then why would mental institutions have their residents wear prison uniforms.
Wardrobes aside, the dialogue is completely horrid and the character interaction in this scene is definitely cringe-worthy. I know that the source material is based on a comic book, but that doesn’t mean it has to be a cartoon. Give us your thoughts on the clip.
