Don’t Expect To See The Hulk In Captain America: Civil War

Even though Mark Ruffalo was seen on set in Germany during the filming of Captain America: Civil War, leading to some outlets “confirming” that the Hulk would make an appearance in the upcoming film, it turns out you can’t be 100 percent sure until the movie comes out – because a character can always be cut from the final version of the film along the way.

It happened to Anna Paquin’s Rogue in X-Men: Days of Future Past, and it looks like the case for a certain Green Goliath as well. Ruffalo had this to say in a recent interview with BadTaste.it that was translated by ComingSoon.net:

"I was in the script but then they removed my character. They don’t want to reveal where is he and why. I don’t even know if Hulk will be back soon."

It’s possible he might not be back soon. Looking over the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase Three slate, there’s no reason to expect Dr. Banner in any movie until Avengers: Infinity War — Part 1 in 2018. A popular rumor for Avengers: Age of Ultron had Hulk ending up in space, where he might run into the Guardians of the Galaxy in their second movie, but that obviously didn’t happen.

Truthfully, Hulk would unbalance the scales in Civil War just a bit anyway, which is likely the same reason Thor is sitting this one out. Even without Banner’s angry side, there will still be plenty of super heroes filling up the screen when Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6, 2016.
