Legends Of Tomorrow: First Look At Hawkgirl, Hawkman

The Hawks are here! Hawkgirl and Hawkman, to be exact, and with both heroes slated to be a big part of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The CW has released the first image of both of the winged warriors in costume — though without one trademark element.

The helmets for the Hawks are hard to get right, and they look good here. It’s also great to see Hawkman carrying a mace, as the weapon is the one most associated with both heroes over the years.

The other parts of the costume tie them together visually while leaving a little room for individuality as well. They’re pretty monochrome, but that’s definitely in keeping with the more muted colors preferred for DC super heroes on The CW.

Hawkgirl (played by Ciara Renee) was announced right away as one of the main cast members for Legends of Tomorrow, while it’s only been in recent weeks that we’ve been told that Hawkman (Falk Hentschel) will also be an important member of the team. Even though few if any super heroes have comic book histories as convoluted as these two, the series will play up the angle that the Hawks are reincarnated lovers, an element that should be familiar to comic book fans well-versed in DC lore from the last 15 years or so.

Filming for Legends of Tomorrow is now underway, as the series is expected to debut in early 2016. Now I think I speak for many when I say there’s only one more thing we need: show us the wings!
