Gotham Ratings Watch: Trouble Brewing?
By Skip Harvey
That’s right, Bat-fans! It’s time for our weekly Gotham ratings report!
FOX’s Batman-less series might just be in trouble. The final numbers for the re-tooled season 2 premiere were not all that encouraging. The season 1 finale saw about 4.9 million viewers, so how did Monday’s episode fare?

Uh oh. 4.57 million is definitely down from the finale. The saddest part is that it’s about half of the series premiere, which tallied 9 million viewers. What does that mean for the show? I hate to say it, but if the numbers don’t start trending upward we might have to start our cancellation watch about December.

The reviews were just as mixed and mediocre for this episode as it was for last season. At some point we may have to recognize that the show is flawed in its concept. Until show runners can own up to that it likely isn’t going to improve. Granted, the numbers are solid for FOX, especially for primetime drama, but considering the audience feedback and seemingly high cost of the show, that may not be able to carry it for long.
