Gotham: Barbara Kean Always Had Darkness In Her

Barbara Kean has turned over a whole new leaf in season two of Gotham, and it’s not in a good way! The former fiance of Jim Gordon has gone full on maniacal serial killer, ready to do just as much destruction as the rest of The Maniax, especially if it involves Gordon.

Erin Richards talked to TV Line about the surprising direction her character has taken in Gotham:

"This season is so much funner for me. I’m having loads more to do! I think they either were going to kill me or do this, basically. And we like this! She and Jim were close in terms of they were going to get married, so something needed to happen, for Jim. And I’m glad they went this direction. But that darkness that you saw at the end of the first [season] was always in her."

I certainly think it has made the character more interesting, as Barbara was one of the worst parts of the first season of Gotham, but with this unexpected twist, I’m interested to see where it ultimately goes. Be sure to see Barbara Kean embrace her darkness on Gotham Mondays on Fox!
