New York Comic Con 2015: Three Out Of The Four Defenders Assemble For A Pic
By Steve Lam
Backstage, right before going out to meet the audience for their 5:00PM EST Marvel/Netflix panel, three out of the four Defenders took an impromptu pic. I think it goes without saying that this is one fine looking team. It’s too bad that Marvel hasn’t found their Iron Fist yet, but good things always come to those who wait. So we’ll be patient as Marvel hasn’t let us down in casting yet. Check out the pic which was taken and uploaded by Krysten “Jessica Jones” Ritter.
Season 2 of Netflix’s Daredevil is being executive produced by Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez, replacing previous showrunner Steven S. DeKnight. Both Petrie and Ramirez also served as writers for the first season. Confirmed returning cast members are Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock / Daredevil, Elden Henson as Franklin “Foggie” Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple. Jon Bernthal and Elodie Yung join the series as Frank Castle / The Punisher and Elektra Natchios, respectively. Bullseye is slated to appear, but has not been cast yet.
Jessica Jones – Official Synopsis: Ever since her short-lived stint as a Super Hero ended in tragedy, Jessica Jones has been rebuilding her personal life and career as a hot-tempered, sardonic, badass private detective in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City. Plagued by self-loathing, and a wicked case of PTSD, Jessica battles demons from within and without, using her extraordinary abilities as an unlikely champion for those in need… especially if they’re willing to cut her a check.
Netflix’s Jessica Jones is set to premiere all episodes on Friday, November 20, 2015. The series was developed by Melissa Rosenberg, and will star Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, David Tennant as Kilgrave, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Rachael Taylor as Trish “Patsy” Walker, Carrie Anne Moss as Harper, Eka Darville as Malcolm, Erin Moriarty as Hope, and Wil Traval as an NYPD officer.
Luke Cage – Offical Synopsis: In this Marvel live-action series, a street-fighting ex-con battles crime in New York’s Hell’s Kitchen as the superhero Luke Cage.
Netflix’s Luke Cage is set to premiere all episodes sometime in 2016. Cheo Hodari Coker will serve as the series showrunner, and will star Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, Theo Rossi as Shades, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, and Mahershala Ali as Cottonmouth.
Casting for Iron Fist is yet to be established by Marvel Studios.
All four characters from each show will later converge together in a miniseries event called The Defenders — another superhero team akin to The Avengers.
