Gotham Ratings Watch! Stability?
By Skip Harvey
That’s right, Bat-fans! It’s time for our weekly Gotham ratings report!
It’s been well documented that the series looks like it might be in trouble. Last season saw a dramatic roller coaster in ratings, spiking early followed by steady decline, followed by occasional but fleeting surges. The one thing the show never found was stability.
For more on the ills of the show check our Season 1 Roundtable.
So, after a surprisingly disappointing Season 2 premiere, has Gotham finally found some stability? Here are the numbers from week 2:
"Week 2 of GOTHAM surged 63% among Adults 18-49 (the largest percentage gain of the night) to a 2.6/9 – *HIGHER* than the Live 3 rating for its premiere (2.5/9). After three days of delayed viewing, GOTHAM’s total viewership rose +46% to 6.8 million (vs. 4.6 mil). And with all platforms factored in (including FOX NOW and Hulu streaming), GOTHAM’s 3-day audience totaled 7.2 million (up +55% from its same-day viewership)."
And here are the results from this week. Now, keep in mind this number isn’t adjusted for other viewing platforms like the results above.
"Lead-in “Gotham” was also steady in adults 18-49. This week’s posted a 1.5 with 4.125 million; last week’s scored a 1.5 and reached 4.329 million."
Though those stats aren’t particularly impressive, they are relatively constant. Constancy may just save this series. All Gotham has to do is carve out a niche audience of loyalists and it might just see a Season 3.
