Batman V Superman: Moving Picture Company Wraps On VFX
By Steve Lam
DCComicsMovie.com first got wind of the completion of visual effects work for the highly anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice via the Instagram feed of Sean Ray, an employee of the company.
However, the most revealing news of this is that a heavily rumored character will actually not be appearing in the film. In a quick exchange via the comments with his followers, Ray revealed that Doomsday doesn’t show up in the 2016 blockbuster. Now, this news would be a 100% confirmation if the following were presumed to be true:
- Moving Picture Company is the only one doing VFX work for the film.
- Doomsday will only be in CGI form.
- Sean Ray worked on all pieces of VFX, or knew people who worked on all of it.
If this is true, I’m actually quite excited. Ever since the rumors — of which I took with a heavy grain of salt — appeared, I thought that it would be too early to have Doomsday enter the DC Extended Universe. To add to that, I also didn’t like the rumored speculation that Doomsday was somehow created by Lex Luthor’s … ahem … Lex Luthor, Jr.’s experimenting on General Zod’s corpse. Doomsday should come when the DCEU is ready for a death of Superman storyline. Plus, the only way to do the character justice is to stay true to the comics and tie it back to his origin and history on Krypton.
