On last week’s “Strike Force” episode of Fox’s Gotham, we saw Theo Galavan take control of Penguin for the purposes of wiping out all the challengers for the now vacant seat of Mayor of Gotham City.  Just how did Galavan do this?  He took the one thing Penguin probably cares more about than building his empire — his mother, Gertrud.  Even with Butch’s help, Penguin was unable to find his mother, which leaves him as an obedient errand boy for Galavan.

Meanwhile, Jim got a new boss in the form of Captain Nathaniel Barnes — a hard-hitting former military man who is zealous in cleaning up Gotham City.  It seems that Jim and Nathaniel have hit it off pretty well.  That is, to the dislike of Harvey —  who sees Nathaniel’s ways of the straight-and-narrow to be the wrong method in policing the streets.  Only time will tell if Nathaniel has other not so altruistic agendas and reasons for his strict black-and-white dogmatic policy.

This week, the GCPD and the newly formed Unit Alpha — the paramilitary police force led by Jim — will be going head-on against some dangerous enemies.  However, it seems that even this elite group of officers may not be able to subdue the kinds of criminals being introduced onto the landscape of Gotham.

Here’s the official synopsis for “Rise of the Villains: Scarification”:

"Galavan and Penguin join forces with a dangerous family in Gotham. Then, as the rivalry between the Waynes and the Galavans resurfaces, Gordon struggles to maintain order in the city."
