Rumor: Doctor Strange – Rachel McAdams To Play Christine Palmer From Night Nurse
By Steve Lam
Since the casting of Rachel McAdams in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 3 Doctor Strange film, fans have been speculating who her character will be. Via Latino-Review, there is a rumor that the actress will be playing Christine Palmer from the Night Nurse comics. Fans may find this odd since the lead character in Night Nurse is Night Nurse herself — Linda Carter. Christine Palmer was one of two other nurses who were roommates of Carter.
In Night Nurse, Christine Palmer is introduced as a debutante from an affluent neighborhood in the Midwest. Against her father’s wishes, she moves to New York City to make a life for herself on her own. She later becomes a surgical nurse for Dr. William Sutton. After taking a leave of absence to travel the country, she returns to Metropolitan General Hospital where she meets Storm and Nightcrawler.
The character of Linda Carter was originally thought to be Rosario Dawson’s character from Netflix’s Daredevil which is also set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It was later revealed that she was another Marvel character named Claire Temple. Daredevil showrunner Steven S. DeKnight had originally wanted Dawson to be Linda Carter, but Kevin Feige had plans to use the character in a future Marvel film.
Doctor Strange will be in Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is set for a release date of November 4, 2016. The film will be directed by Scott Derrickson, and written by Thomas Dean Donnelly, Joshua Oppenheimer, and Jon Spaihts. Current confirmed cast members are Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Stephen Strange / Doctor Strange, Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo.
