If you made it to the back of Artist Alley at New York Comic Con 2015, earlier this month, you got to see something very cool and unquestionably unique. A class case beyond all of the artist booths contained a line of super hero-inspired FDNY helmets featuring artwork by some very recognizable names from the world of comic books. Most of the helmets were auctioned off during NYCC, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the FDNY Foundation, the official non-profit organization of the New York City Fire Department, but six more are going to be auctioned online beginning at 3 pm Eastern time today.

Along with the Joe Quesada helmet pictured above, the online auction features helmets with artwork by Kaare Andrews, Phil Jiminez and Walt Simonson. Rounding out the lot are helmets sporting the logos of Marvel’s Daredevil and Jessica Jones Netflix series, with the latter helmet signed in a prominent spot by series star Krysten Ritter.

“We are thrilled to have formed this dynamic partnership between fictional and real-life superheroes,” Christina Rowley, Director of Licensing at NYC & Company, said in a press release. “Through this meaningful collaboration, Comic Con is making New York’s Bravest part of one of the most talked-about pop culture events in the world on the 150th anniversary of the department’s heroism.”

The helmets will be auctioned through the ReedPOP Supply Co. eBay account and bids will be accepted through 3 pm on Monday, October 26. There aren’t too many opportunities to get your hands on one of a kind collectibles and help a good cause at the same time, but this auction stands out as one that qualifies on both counts.
