This Original Batmobile Can Be Yours For Only $5 Million
Want the original Batmobile used on the 1960s TV show starring Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Batman? It can be yours if you have a few million to spare.
Yes, this is the original Batmobile used in Batman: The TV series. It was designed by George Barris, who made a career out of creating custom vehicles for movies and TV shows, though nothing as extravagantly different as the Batmobile. The car was actually based off a Lincoln Futura Concept Car Barris had purchased at the beginning of the 1960s.

The Batmobile has changed hands from it’s original owner, however. Barris sold the car in 2013 to collector Rick Champagne for $4.6 million in 2013. Now it is in the hands of the same auction house it was purchased at, and available for a not much higher price of $5 million.
As Batmobiles go, that could be considered a bargain. The estimated cost of the Dark Knight’s transportation of choice in the upcoming Batman v Superman movie is estimated to be about $9 million, but admittedly that’s with a ton of bells and whistles that weren’t even possible in 1960 (like making it bulletproof). Although you could save about $8 million on the current model and $4 million on the 1960s model by having West Coast Customs, who made the Batmobile for Batman v Superman, make you a non-functioning version for only $1 million. C’mon, you weren’t going to drive it anyways…
