Gotham Preview/Synopsis – S02E07 – “Rise Of The Villains: Mommy’s Little Monster”

On last week’s “By Fire” episode of Fox’s Gotham, we saw Jim continue his investigation into the arson fires at Wayne Entperises-owned buildings and the one responsible for the death of Unit Alpha rookie cop Luke Garrett.  The discovery that Bridgit Pike — Selina Kyle’s friend who found power in being a criminal — was the one responsible concluded with her own self-afflicted death after a tense stand-off with Jim and the rest of Unit Alpha.

However, Bridgt didn’t die.  She was badly burned and transferred to an underground secret facility owned by Wayne Enterprises at Indian Hill.  The ending scenes heavily suggest that she will be experimented on.

In Penguin’s neck of the woods, Butch was beaten and tortured by Tabitha after Theo discovered Butch’s true loyalties due to brainwashing.  Soon, Butch made his escape back to Penguin and divulged the location of where the Galavan’s were holding Gertrud.  As viewers watched Penguin and his crew gear up to rescue his mother, a big question remained: Was Butch compromised, and can we trust his information?

We also can’t forget about Edward Nygma.  After spending most of Season 1 courting Kristen Kringle, Nygma was finally able to get her undivided attention this season.  Their relationship tragically ended last week when Nygma accidentally killed her in a heat of passion.  He already has the blood of Dougherty on his hands.  How will he get himself out of this one?
