Ben Affleck believes Batman v Superman will jump start great 2016 for Warner Bros troubled movie department

2015 in some ways has been a great year for Warner Bros. as a company. Games like Witcher 3, Arkham Knight & Mortal Kombat X were all big hits. The TV division is crushing it thanks with Arrow, Flash, & the newly-launched Supergirl.

But for the movie arm of Warner Bros., 2015 was an incredibly bad year. Not only was tentpole superhero movie Batman v Superman pushed back to March of next year, but Warner Bros. had several high profile flops including Jupiter Ascending, Man From U.N.C.L.E. and most recently Pan, which is not just a flop but arguably the biggest flop of the year.

But 2016 is a new year, and one in which Batman v Superman actor Ben Affleck feels that his movie will kick off a great year for the studio (but he also recognizes the tremendous pressure the film is under):

"I think there is a ton of pressure on it. I mean I would be bulls—ting you to say there isn’t. You’ll see next year they are going to have a great year. They are now developing … probably the single greatest under-exploited IP asset in the entertainment business, the DC comic world. And now they have started to exploit that and you are going to see that blossom. And, when it does, it’s going to be massive"

Of course, Ben Affleck would have cause to say that, he’s got a lot invested in Batman Superman being a huge success for both Warner Bros. and the DC movie universe going forwards.

But he’s also not completely wrong. In addition to really kicking off the DC movie universe with Batman v Superman, Warner Bros. also has two other huge potential films not only in fellow DC movie Suicide Squad but Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.

I really hope that all these films are great and successful because I want a long future of awesome DC comic films and even a Harry Potter spin-off being a big hit will help with that because it will of course help Warner Bros. be financially stable in general. But of course much more important is Batman v Superman opening strong since that will set the pace for the rest of the DC film universe.
