Rumor: Supergirl May Meet The Flash … After All

We should’ve learned our lesson that in the world of superheroes there are no absolutes.  That includes stating that something will absolutely not happen.  Yep, we’re looking at you CBS.  Via Bleeding Cool, we have rumors that the Flash and his team from STAR Labs may meet Kara on CBS’s Supergirl during Sweeps Week in May.  Bleeding Cool states that the source is a reliable one and all of this is contingent upon CBS ordering the last episodes of Supergirl.

The show has been commissioned for thirteen episodes, and CBS has an option to order the rest of the nine for a total of twenty-two episodes.  Supergirl has been suffering a bit in the ratings and the network thinks that this will give it a much needed boost.

This news shouldn’t really come as that much of a surprise since both The CW’s The Flash and CBS Supergirl share the same producer — Greg Berlanti.  Speculation of a crossover started to gain momentum almost a year ago when the show was still being developed.  However, it was quickly shot down by Berlanti himself.  I guess the network now sees a real benefit in having Kara Zor-El join the already shared DC television universe.  If this does come true, then that means Supergirl will also be part of Arrow and the upcoming Legends of Tomorrow.

CBS’s Supergirl was developed by Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler, and Andrew Kreisberg, and will star Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El / Kara Danvers / Supergirl, Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, and Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers.  Laura Benanti will having a recurring role as Alural Zore-El.  Guest stars will include Jeremy Jordan as Winslow “Winn” Schott, Helen Slater as Eliza Danvers, Dean Cain as Jeremiah Danvers, Faran Tahir as The Commander, and Owan Yeoman as Vartox.

Supergirl currently airs on CBS on Mondays at 8:00PM EST.
