The second and newest trailer for

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

just

dropped on Jimmy Kimmel Live! tonight

and it was everything I had hoped for in terms of giving us something new and fresh to salivate at.  From the moment Clark Kent first meets Bruce Wayne, to the scene of DC’s Trinity standing together for the first time on the big screen, I was tearing up with excitement.  Here is a play-by-play of my first reaction to this epic trailer:

0:04 – This film rating title card is really eating into some valuable trailer time.  Begone!  The only green thing I want to be seeing right now is the kryptonite from the movie.

0:12 – Okay, classical music.  Fancy car.  Is Lex Luthor arriving?

0:15 – Wow, Henry Cavill has really grown into his Clark Kent role.  The voice, mannerisms, everything, it’s perfect!

0:21 – Nothing really new.  The same suit and overall look we’ve seen Ben Affleck sport in the past teasers, trailers, and promotional material.

0:30 – The monumental meeting has begun.  And Clark starts it off with an unknowingly confrontational question.

0:31 – Nice.  It’s the music that was released/leaked/recorded from earlier today.  It works well.

0:34 – I guess two can play at this game.  Clark is worried about people’s civil liberties, and Bruce is worried about Superman being too powerful.

0:42 – Great world building with the newspaper.  Love how this Batman brands the bad guys.  Definitely a man who has seen too much and is frustrated with crime.

0:45 – Okay, Bruce is taking a bit of an offense to this line of questioning.

0:50 – “Cat out of a tree.”  Why do I keep having the image of the Donner/Reeve Superman saving the cat in Superman: The Movie (1978).

1:00 – “Most of the world …”  I guess only a few are against Superman in this movie.  Nice.  I was worried that this might become a bit too Miller-esque.  You know, make it cool to hate on Superman.

1:03 – “Bad history with freaks dressed like clowns.”  Oh Burn!  You dissin’ Supes right in front of his face without even knowin’ that it’s him!?

1:09 – He really wants to break out the heat vision right now.

1:11 – I’m still not too hot on Jesse Eisenberg as the main villain.  His voice is really a bit too high.  On the bright side, he’s playing Lex Luthor, Jr., so we don’t have to worry about Lex Luthor proper being ruined.

1:21 – Man, Lex really looks tiny next to these two.

1:22 – I like his quote about not picking a fight with this person, but I do hope Lex isn’t too much of a comedian in this movie.

1:26 – Nice.  A sped up, time-lapsed version of the start of Monday’s teaser.

1:38 – “That son of a b**** brought the war to us!”  Don’t let Captain America hear you.  And Nick Fury might also ask if you kiss your mother with that mouth.  In all seriousness, I’m really loving the attitude of Batman in this film.

1:44 – Superman is really using his flight like another appendage.  I love that attack move of hovering and then launching towards his target.

1:51 – Affleck is really owning that cowl!  This is Batman right out of the comics!

1:52 – Now we know what Batman was firing at in the previous trailers.  Although … this could be another misleading cut.

2:01 – There’s the arrogant Lex we all know and love.  I guess like father like son.

2:05 – “It’s time you learn what it means to be a man.”  Batman is really schooling Superman in this movie.

2:07 – What in the world are those giant man-sized insect things?  Are they helping Batman or attacking him?  They look like mutations of some sort.  I’m googling the hell out of this after the trailer.  Someone somewhere has to know!

2:08 – “Stay down!  If I wanted it, you’d be dead already!”  Yep, that’s the Superman I know.  Always giving people second chances … or even multiple second chances.

2:21 – Oh, so it is Lex pitting the World’s Finest against each other.  I wonder what he’s up to.

2:25 – Superman: “What have you done?”  Steve: “Yeah, what have you done, Lex?”

2:27 – What the —

2:30 – Oh DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN!  DOOMSDAY!  It’s so awesome, yet too soon!  I’m so conflicted!

2:31 – Batman: “Oh sh –”  Steve: “Yeah, you and me both, Bats!”

2:37 – I guarantee you Superman saves Batman and that’s how they become allies.

2:39 – Wait, what’s that glowing red hot circle thingy?

2:43 – DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN!  It’s Wonder Woman with a shield, and she looks good!  Okay, I will admit that I was one of the people who wasn’t thrilled with the initial casting of Gal Gadot.  But seriously, she is the embodiment of the Goddess of Truth.  The face, the attitude, the flowing hair … SHE IS WONDER WOMAN!

2:45 – Love that bit of dialogue between Superman and Batman.  And I’m loving Batman’s voice.  It’s pretty awesome that he has a voice-modulator in his standard outfit.

2:48 – And the DC Trinity stands together!  This movie is gonna rock!

2:56 – Yes, I now it’ll be released in 2016.  Please stop rubbing it in, Warner Bros.  This will be the longest four months of my life.

There you go.  That’s the play-by-play of my initial reaction to this awesome trailer, bad grammar and all.  I can now sleep soundly like a baby tonight.  Wait, let’s get real here.  I’m probably going to watch the trailer another 100 times, and my reaction will be filled with just as much excitement as the first viewing.  Until this movie is released, this trailer coupled with the other teasers and trailers will be my morning coffee.

What did you think of this newest trailer?  Did it meet or exceed your expectations?  What was your initial reaction?  Leave your thoughts in the comments.
