Batman/Superman Variant Covers Coming in March
Batman/Superman variant covers are coming to 10 DC Comics titles this March!
Coinciding with the premiere of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on March 25, 2016, DC Comics’ March variant cover theme will be “Batman/Superman”. The following 10 issues will be part of the theme: Batman #50 (Jim Lee cover), Detective Comics #50 (Rafael Grampa cover), Batgirl #50 (Kevin Nowlan cover), Grayson #18 (Stephen Platt cover), Robin: Son of Batman #10 (Ryan Ottley cover), Batman/Superman #30 (Tony Moore cover), Superman #50 (Kaare Andrews cover), Action Comics #50 (Martin Ansin cover), Superman/Wonder Woman #27 (Charlie Adlard cover), and Wonder Woman #50 (Massimo Carnevale cover).
So far, two of the covers have been revealed: the one by Jim Lee and the one by Kaare Andrews. They both very much resemble the Batman v Superman posters that have been circulating, with the profiles of each hero tarnished by the logo of the other. It is unclear whether all 10 of the covers will be images specifically based on the film, but that seems most likely, and it’s probably the most appealing way for them to go. I would be really excited to see a Gal Gadot Wonder Woman-inspired cover on Wonder Woman #50. My imagination’s having a blast with this announcement, as another possibility that I imagined for a cover is a scene from the famous The Dark Knight Returns Batman vs. Superman fight, but in the style of Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck’s Superman and Batman. Just like with the Harley Quinn variants this month, the Batman/Superman variants will be polybagged to add an element of surprise!

The marketing for Batman v Superman is clearly starting to pick up. Batman v Superman Hot Wheels are already on shelves, while action figures, t-shirts, and a companion novel are around the corner.
