The Vision #1 Full Issue To Be Included In Spider-Man/Deadpool #1 In January
By Nick Tylwalk
Let’s say you have a critically acclaimed first issue that caught comic book fans off-guard and may not have sold as many copies as you’d like. For the sake of argument, let’s call it … oh, I don’t know, The Vision #1. You know, hypothetically speaking (insert winking face emoji here).
How can you get more people to read it? Marvel has an idea, and it sounds like a winner: it’s putting the full issue of The Vision #1 in-between the covers of Spider-Man/Deadpool #1 for no extra cost. That’s right, you’ll be able to buy the wisecracking adventures of Marvel’s two premiere quipsters and stay for the chilling look at a non-human family trying unsuccessfully to blend in with humans.

“The Vision #1 is a title that perfectly encapsulates the All-New, All-Different Marvel initiative,” Marvel SVP Sales & Marketing David Gabriel said in a press release. “It’s a riveting reinterpretation of a character that has existed for decades and Tom [King], Gabriel [Hernandez Walta] and Jordie [Bellaire] truly hit a home run. We’re hoping that by including it in a huge release like Spider-Man/Deadpool we can get this fantastic first issue in front of a larger audience.”
It’s an interesting strategy because you’re basically punting any sales of reprints of the first issue (assuming they were warranted) and giving away the story for free in the hopes that more people will realize how good it is and buy #2 — or #3 in this case, since #2 has already come out as well. Will it work? I’m not sure, but Marvel has nothing to lose by giving it a shot, especially since Spider-Man/Deadpool #1 is likely to sell like hotcakes and readers will be getting the extra story for free.
So to recap, that’s 40 total pages of story, with The Vision #1 in its entirety as a bonus with Spider-Man/Deadpool #1 on sale January 6. Sounds like a good deal to us.
