Suicide Squad: Slipknot As Bad As Joker Or Harley

Don’t underestimate Adam Beach’s Slipknot in next year’s Suicide Squad

Next year’s Suicide Squad movie features some top tier DC villains such as Deadshot, Joker, Harley Quinn and Killer Croc. It also features some lesser known DC villains like El Diablo and Slipknot. You might think these of these characters as either comedic relief or straight up cannon fodder, but Suicide Squad star Adam Beach, who plays Slipknot in the film, insists that his character is as much of a threat as any of the most dangerous members of the Suicide Squad.

"My version is basically a guy who’s just pissed off to be there, he’s an angry boy. But ya know, he’s like everybody else, he is a hired mercenary, assassin killer, so you know that paying the right money and he’ll get the job done. And as long as I kept that nature about him that he can in any minute hang you with his ropes or stab you in the back, he is as worse as the Joker and Deadshot and Harley Quinn."

In the DC comic universe, Slipknot is pretty much a D-list villain (which is understandable, his gimmick is “really strong ropes”, and while he may be a rained assassin, there’s plenty of better ones in the DC universe). But maybe Suicide Squad is a chance for some respect for this rather minor villain to move up in the world.

Adam Beack also described Slipknot as “the escape plan”, which indicates he might be pretty essential in getting the Suicide Squad out of a tight spot in the movie. He also teased plenty of team in-fighting, which is only natural  when you force a bunch of villains to team up with each other. Is Slipknot as dangerous as Beach claims he is? Will he survive the Suicide Squad’s first mission? We’ll have to wait until August 5th to find out….
