Are We Going To See The Time Gem In Doctor Strange?

Even though the Infinity Stones continue to be the driving force that ties the overall story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe together, 2015 was a quiet year on that front. The one Stone we saw on film was the Mind Gem, formerly in Loki’s scepter and now embedded in the forehead of Vision thanks to the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Thor left to gain more intel on the Infinity Stones in general, at the end of that movie too. But Ant-Man didn’t reference them at all, nor did anything Marvel did on TV. Captain America: Civil War looks like it will steer clear of them as well when it releases in May.

That leaves us with Doctor Strange as the place for more lore on the Stones, and while many fans figured it might be a logical landing spot for the Soul Gem, it’s also been theorized that the Time Gem might be embedded in one of the Doctor’s famous mystical artifacts from the comics. According to recent comments made by Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige, that theory is the one that seems like it’s going to pay off.

Feige just talked to Entertainment Weekly about Doctor Strange, and he sure did seem to suggest that the Eye of Agamotto could house the Time Gem:

"In this film, the Eye is a very important relic that can be quite dangerous if used in the wrong hands, because it has the ability to do any number of things, the most dangerous of which is, it can sort of manipulate probabilities … Which is also another way of saying, “screw around with time” — which is part of our story."

Not only would that help solve the mystery of the location of one of the two remaining Infinity Stones, it would also link Doctor Strange directly to the overall MCU plan, because Thanos would certainly come looking for him sometime soon — assuming something doesn’t happen to the Time Gem within Strange’s solo movie, that is.
