New Suicide Squad Trailer Coming January 19th
A new Suicide Squad trailer will be included in a DC movie TV special following the return of The Flash this January
We haven’t gotten a real Suicide Squad trailer yet. What we got was Warner Bros. relenting and releasing in HD a sizzle reel that was never meant to see the light of day outside of Hall H at San Diego Comic Con. So when will we get our first actual trailer for Suicide Squad?
The answer to that question is actually fairly soon. The hit TV show The Flash returns for its mid-season premiere January 19th, and DC has just announced it will be airing a TV special following that episode called “DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League”, which will actually provide a look at the upcoming DC universe in general, but will also feature a new trailer for Suicide Squad. Here’s the official statement from Warner Bros. about the special:
"DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League invites viewers behind the scenes of the exciting new movies coming out of the DC Films universe, culminating in the thrilling world premiere of the all-new trailer for “Suicide Squad,” DC’s misfit crew of antiheroes forced into saving the world this summer, with director David Ayer. Hosted by filmmaker/writer/lifelong comics fan Kevin Smith, with special guest DC Entertainment’s Geoff Johns, the special showcases the explosive landscape of DC’s greatest heroes, kicking off with “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” in theatres this March, and with a sneak peek from the upcoming Wonder Woman feature film."
We’ve already seen plenty of Batman v Superman (arguably way more than one would want to see in a trailer), so hopefully special will mostly focus on Suicide Squad and the upcoming Wonder Woman film, which we have seen virtually nothing of so far and just learned some casting news.
Next: Suicide Squad: Slipknot As Bad As Joker Or Harley
As exciting as this special will be, I really hope that once again, DC doesn’t make the mistake of revealing way too much about an upcoming project. Even if it isn’t the final act, we still know way too much about the plot of Batman v Superman, and for Suicide Squad, we really don’t need to know more than these villains are put on a team and forced to work together. That’s it. Don’t even need to know what the mission is. Save that for when we actually have our butts in the seats this August.
