Suicide Squad: Harley Quinn Is Violent & Crazy
Margot Robbie Says Suicide Squad’s Harley Quinn is an extremely dangerous individual
Someone who either isn’t that familiar with Harley Quinn or only familiar with her appearances on the Batman: The Animated Series (where she was mostly comic relief) may think Harley Quinn is far from the most dangerous member of the Suicide Squad. By Margot Robbie, who is playing Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, would say different.
"Harley is creepy, violent, crazy — all of the things that I aspire to be, No. It’s the fun of living vicariously through someone who is doing things that I would never do in real life."
Margot Robbie also talked about how excited she was to be working with Will Smith again, who plays Deadshot in the film after the two starred together in the con movie Focus:
I enjoyed working with Will so, so much that I was overjoyed when I heard that we would be working together again. I actually texted him when I heard he was in negotiations to be in Suicide Squad and kept peer-pressuring him, ‘You’d better be taking this movie!’ He obviously signed on for his own reasons, but I was so incredibly happy that we got to do Round Two. He’s awesome on set and awesome off set. He’s just a really, really good person.
As much as I’m all for a more serious and violent take on Harley Quinn, part of what makes her character is the humor, and I really hope they aren’t forgetting that in Suicide Squad. Make it a more demented, psychotic sense of humor, but a sense of humor nonetheless. We’ll see if they accomplish that when Suicide Squad opens August 5th.
