Gotham: No One Stays Dead

Gotham star Ben McKenzie teases that anyone is able to come back to the show

Gotham is a show that has no problem killing off a lot of it’s central characters. Recent deaths in just the first part of season two include Jerome, Gertrude Cobblepot, Sarah Essen, Kristen Kringle and of course Theo Galavan. But in the crazy world of Gotham, is it possible people could come back from the dead?

Gotham star Ben McKenzie answered this question, specifically pertaining to whether or not they might bring back the leader of the short-lived Maniax, Jerome:

"Not only can we but we might. I can’t say definitively but yes. I’ll put it this way: almost nobody that you’ve seen go away is dead. They are all able to come back."

So is no one off limits? I’d honestly imagine this rule is mostly for villains, because obviously bringing back characters like Essen, Kringle or Penguin’s mom would invalidate the consequences of their deaths. Obviously Jerome, Theo Galavan and Fish Mooney all seem like they have the potential to return regardless of their current state.

Of course, there are lots of ways to bring back characters without actually reviving them. Flashbacks or hallucinations, for example. Though I’d be willing to bet in the case of some of the more notable Gotham villains that have at least appeared to kick the bucket, if they are brought back it will be in a far more substantial manner, and that Indian Hill will likely be the cause. Will some of your favorite Gotham villains return? Start watching when Gotham resumes it’s second season on February 29th to find out.
