Snyder Talks Batman v Superman on Conan
Watch Zack Snyder and Conan O’Brien’s discussion of the Batman v Superman Batmobile and Christian Bale’s advice to Ben Affleck!
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder appeared as a guest on Wednesday night’s episode of Conan. The biggest news of the show was the present he brought with him, a new Batman v Superman clip, but he also discussed the film with Conan O’Brien. The official Team Coco YouTube channel has uploaded a video of their conversation.
Conan presented the question of how the new DCEU Batmobile is different. Snyder compared it with the Tumbler from Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, saying, “The Tumbler is a re-purposed military vehicle. So the cool thing about our Batmobile is it’s purpose-built by Bruce Wayne to be the Batmobile. It allows it to be slightly battier.” If there’s anything so far from the footage of Batman v Superman that I have liked more than the Dark Knight alternative, it’s the Batmobile. The Tumbler always seemed like such a far stretch from the sleeker, more car-like status quo from the comics, but the Batman v Superman Batmobile seems to fall somewhere in-between the two. Snyder also mentioned that the prop guys were none-too-pleased to learn that Henry Cavill would be standing on the Batmobile in the movie.
The second topic of discussion for Conan and Snyder was Christian Bale’s advice to Ben Affleck on playing the Caped Crusader. Snyder said that the advice was to make sure that the suit featured a zipper, which is something that Snyder admitted he hadn’t even thought of. Conan definitely had some fun with that story. I’m absolutely loving all the TV coverage of Batman v Superman that is starting to hit full stride. With Ben Affleck going on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last month, to Snyder appearing on Conan, to the DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League special on The CW next week, we’ll certainly be getting a steady dose of the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel on the small screen leading up to March 25. Stay tuned to Caped Crusades for the latest on Batman v Superman and for all your Batman news!
