Spider-Man: See First Pic Of Tom Holland As Peter Parker
By Nick Tylwalk
Sorry folks, no images yet of what the new Marvel Cinematic Universe version of Spider-Man will look like in costume, but thanks to one of the top Marvel execs, we at least can discuss its new Peter Parker.
Tom Holland is the young man stepping into that role, and thanks to the Twitter feed of Marvel Studios co-president Louis D’Esposito, there’s at least one image floating around showing us what he looks like as Parker. It comes from the set of Captain America: Civil War, where Holland will play Spider-Man for the first time, though since that movie wrapped its shoot a while ago, it’s likely either one D’Esposito was sitting on for a while.
Here’s the pic:

As commenters on the tweet have pointed out, Holland’s right eye looks like it is showing some battle damage, suggesting that whenever this pic is from in the movie, he’s already seen some action as Spidey. It’s also quite likely he’s sitting in one of the Avengers’ Quinjets, complete with green screen sections for digital effects.
Some fans have speculated that perhaps Holland was needed for reshoots. Here’s another idea: What if he’s filming a mid-credits or post-credits scene? It’s not impossible for that to take place well after the main shoot was completed, and I could definitely see Marvel including Peter in a tag just to give the Marvel/Sony Spider-Man reboot scheduled for next year some extra momentum.
Whatever the case, it’s cool seeing Holland as Parker, something we’ll need to get accustomed to as the studios move forward with a new Spider-Man. There’s a little of the Tobey Maguire Parker in him, I’d say, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. We’ll see how this pic fits in with Captain America: Civil War when it invades theaters on May 6.
