Two New Batman v Superman TV Spots Released
Take a look at the two brand new Batman v Superman TV spots that aired today!
When playoff football comes Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice content, it seems. Two TV spots from the upcoming film aired during the NFL wildcard games two weeks ago, and today we have been treated to two more! There’s some good variety in this new batch as well, as one focuses more on Superman and the other more on Bruce Wayne.
The first of the two commercials, the Superman one, is mostly recycled footage. It opens with that epic (but controversial) shot of Batman perched above what is presumably Gotham City holding what looks like a rifle. Then Clark Kent argues with Perry White over the ethics of Batman’s war on crime, and finally we see Superman telling Batman the “the bat is dead” line from the Conan clip. More than anything, this new spot really reminded me how eager I am to see Clark at the Daily Planet. While I fully understand why it didn’t play much of a role in Man of Steel, Clark’s day job at the Daily Planet is one of my favorite aspects of the character, so I look forward to finally getting scenes of him there in Batman v Superman. Being the Batman fan that I am, the second spot is the one that really had me excited! It is an extended version of Bruce’s conversation with Alfred about the threat Superman poses. “Count the dead. Thousands of people. What’s next? Millions? He has the power to wipe out the entire human race, and if we believe there is even a 1% chance that he is our enemy, we have to take it as an absolute certainty. And we have to destroy him,” says Bruce. This might be second to the scene with Clark and Lex Luthor from the second trailer in terms of amount of Bruce dialogue, but it’s the first time we see him get fired up, and man oh man does Ben Affleck do a good job playing that part of the character. This is definitely my favorite of the four TV spots so far. Take a look at the video of it, also from Warner Bros. Pictures’ official YouTube channel, below:
Next: Snyder Discusses Batman v Superman and Affleck
In addition, Zack Snyder posted a promotional video to Twitter today encouraging fans to use the hashtags #WhoWillWin and either #Batman or #Superman to indicate which side of the greatest gladiator match in the history of the world they are on. Using the hashtags will add either a Batman emoji or a Superman emoji to your Tweet as well. Let me know in the comments what you thought of the new TV spots, along with which hashtag you’ll be using (I’ll take my best guess though, based on what website you’re reading right now). Also, be sure to keep it locked to Caped Crusades for continuing coverage of Batman v Superman and for all your Batman news!
