Ex-Green Bay Packers Running Back Ahman Green Is In Batman V Superman

Like most of us, ex-Green Bay Packers running back Ahman Green is a big superhero fan, one who’s not above cosplaying as Batman. Unlike us normal folks, he also knows Zack Snyder and parlayed that friendship into a role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The 38-year old former Nebraska star and all-time Packers leading rusher has a small part, to be sure, but still one he believes is “more than an extra.” He explained his gig in the upcoming Warner Bros. blockbuster on a recent episode of the “Just Not Sports” podcast, which in turn was reported by the Green Bay Press Gazette.

Though he doesn’t have any lines, he still sounds as thrilled as any of us would be to appear with the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel on the big screen.

"My character name is Thug #2, and if you go to IMDb.com right now I am on the cast list … So I think I’m more than an extra. That was just a dream come true, just a great opportunity that (director) Zack Snyder and their casting director gave me to be on set."

Green says he met Snyder during the filming of Man of Steel a few years ago, and used the Wisconsin-born filmmaker’s love of the Packers to put a bug in his ear about appearing in a future movie. After that, stick-to-itiveness paid off.

"I just kept, you know, sending him messages and calling him and just kind of reminding him, because he’s a big-time movie director. He’s a guy that can, trust me, forget things and it won’t be his fault because he has a thousand things going on every day. So I just stayed consistent with contacting him and finally I got a call from Warner Bros. Studios … It was just like, ‘Yes, here we go!"

A Packer from 2000 to 2006, Green ran for 1,000 or more yards in all but one of his seasons with the team, earning four straight Pro Bowl selections and setting the franchise record for single-season rushing yards with 1,883 in 2003. He was inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in 2014.

In other words, he’s not your average super-fan and cosplayer. Still, his enthusiasm sounds pretty much the same as ours, especially when he’s sounding off on whether or not Batman v Superman is going to deliver on the hype.

"From what I’ve seen, what I saw on set and what I’ve seen in the previews, it’s like, aw, man, this is going to be so good."
