Batman v Superman: Lex Luthor ‘Full Of Rage’

In Batman v Superman, Lex Luthor is consumed by his own rage

We’ve spent lots and lots of time talking about how Batman is pretty angry in Batman v Superman. But he’s not alone in his anger, Fellow billionaire Lex Luthor is having anger control issues as well in the upcoming superhero movie.

Jesse Eisenberg, who plays Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman, described Luthor as “full of rage” and a guy “who won’t sleep to get something done”. Sounds a lot like Batman, no wonder they are reportedly in cahoots. Eisenberg also talked about how reading the Batman v Superman script:

"It was written in a way I would say dovetails with my skills, it was written with a real psychological underpinning, it was written with a kind of humor that I knew I could do. And with a dramatic intensity that I enjoy."

Of course, whether or not this humor and dramatic intensity comes across on the big screen well is a whole other matter. We’ve obviously only seen bits and pieces of Eisenberg’s performance as Lex Luthor in the Batman v Superman trailer, but it’s certainly an unusual take on the role, with some even likening it to Jim Carrey’s performance as the Riddler in Batman Forever (and while I did like Carrey in that role, a similar performance by Esienberg obviously might not fit a movie like this). Of course, if the eccentric billionaire is just a facade in order to hide the much darker side of Lex Luthor and it’s pulled off successfully, it may be seen as a rather brilliant performance when Batman v Superman opens March 25th.
