Gotham’s Ben McKenzie Nominated For Kids’ Choice Award
James Gordon may win a Kids’ Choice Award!
The Kids’ Choice Awards have been announced, and Gotham’s own Ben McKenzie has been nominated for an award.
Ben McKenzie is up for a Kids’ Choice Award in the category of Favorite Male Star in A Family Show. He is up against some stiff competition in the form of everyone’s current favorite TV Superhero Grant Gustin, aka The Flash as well as super nerd Jim Parsons aka Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory. Not sure if it’s fair to put dramas up against comedies, but whatever. Voting starts today for the Kids Choice Awards. You can vote on Twitter using the hashtag “KCA” on your picks, but also through your phone or tablet and of course on Nickelodeon’s website. The Kids’ Choice Awards will air March 12th and be hosted by Blake Shelton (do kids like The Voice? I have no idea). Gotham and it’s cast were not nominated in any other categories.

Granted, their is a category for “kids show” vs. “family show”, but I certainly don’t think of Gotham as something that should be nominated for any sort of Kids’ Choice Award. Gotham is darker and more violent than virtually any other show nominated in any other category. People gleefully murder each other and die pretty grisly deaths. It’s also probably a little more on the sensual side than nearly all these nominees. It just seems like an odd fit is all. And I really like Ben McKenzie, but it will be a cold day in hell when he beats out the amazing Grant Gustin…
