Legends Of Tomorrow Preview/Synopsis – S01E03 – “Blood Ties”
By Steve Lam
“Pilot: Part 2” — the second episode of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow — had the team racing against the clock to retrieve Ray’s missing tech from the clutches of Vandal Savage, before he’s able to reverse-engineer it and create an even more horrible future. They devise a plan to steal an alpha particle tracker from the only scientist working in that field in 1975 — a young Martin Stein.

They eventually get the tracker and find Ray’s tech, but with a great price. Martin discovers that the timeline has changed — he’ll never meet his wife. Meanwhile, Ray, Leonard, and Mick go to a mansion — later discovered to be Savage’s — to steal an ancient dagger. Even though they find it, they get caught by the genocidal immortal. Savage later uses Mick’s life in leveraging the team into facing him.
A battle ensues, with Carter fighting Savage. However, Savage cannot be killed because Kendra needs to wield the dagger. Carter is then quickly killed by Savage, who also critically injures Kendra. With one man down, the team vows to avenge the death of their fallen comrade by hunting down Savage.
In this week’s episode, we’ll see how the team is doing after this shocking loss. Here’s the official synopsis for “Blood Ties”:

Meanwhile, Snart (Wentworth Miller) and Rory (Dominic Purcell) talk Jax (Franz Drameh) into taking the jump ship back to Central City so they can steal a valuable emerald. Professor Stein (Victor Garber) guides Ray (Brandon Routh) on a dangerous mission. Dermott Downs directed the episode written by Marc Guggenheim & Chris Fedak (#103). Original airdate 2/4/2016."
