DC Comics Rebirth Details Will Drop Tomorrow

We’ll finally get the details of DC’s “Rebirth” event during the ComicsPRO Annual Meeting tomorrow!

When some of the DC Comics show runners posted cryptic images to social media last week teasing an event called “Rebirth”, the rumors started flying.  Is it another reboot?  Are titles that don’t feature characters in the DC TV and movie universes getting cancelled?  Are books just simply starting over with new #1s?  One week ago, DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns took to Instagram to publish photos of the Green Lantern: Rebirth and The Flash: Rebirth series, which led to speculation about the new Rebirth event possibly reviving certain characters.  Well, the reboot rumor was debunked on Monday when Johns and DC Co-Publisher Jim Lee uploaded edited versions of the Rebirth images to Twitter, which read “Rebirth.  It’s not a reboot… and it never was.”

Other than it not being a reboot, we still really don’t know what Rebirth is.  However, according to Rich Johnston of Bleeding Cool, that is about to change tomorrow.  DC will apparently be announcing the details of the event during the first day of the ComicsPRO Annual Meeting in Portland, Oregon.  Also, yesterday, the solicitations for DC’s May comics were released, which are presumably the final issues before Rebirth occurs.

Personally, I’m very glad that Rebirth is not another reboot.  I’ve never been a fan of the New 52, but a second reboot wouldn’t be the answer for me, because my problem is simply that I wish DC hadn’t scrapped pre-Flashpoint continuity.  I also wouldn’t be a fan of Rebirth aligning the comics closer to the TV and movie universes.  The comics act as the source material for everything else DC-related, and it shouldn’t be any other way.  I’d be fine with new #1s, as it wouldn’t change anything for me as a fan, but it would simply be a temporary fix for DC to bring in some more money.  Or if this is something along the lines of the Green Lantern or Flash Rebirth series, that could be good as well.  I guess we’ll have to hope for the best when the official announcement is made tomorrow!  Let me know your theories about what Rebirth is in the comments, and be sure to keep it locked to Caped Crusades for all your Batman news!
