By Nick Tylwalk
Was it just a slip of the tongue from one of the actors in Captain America: Civil War, or is the Hulk secretly in the film after all?

It’s been widely assumed that the Hulk wouldn’t take part in the upcoming third Cap movie. Not only would his presence threaten to unbalance the sides from a pure power perspective, but when last we saw Bruce Banner in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he was on a Quinjet to nowhere, trying to escape from society once again for the greater good.
Not only that, but Marvel has made no mention of Mark Ruffalo as part of the film’s cast. Someone who’s definitely in the film just has, though: Anthony Mackie, a.k.a. Sam Wilson, a.k.a. the Falcon.
In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1, Mackie was effusive in his praise for the cast of Civil War, going name by name through the awesome actors in the film.
"Having seen the movie, it’s Marvel’s best movie thus far. And I’m being honest — if a Marvel movie sucks, a movie in the Marvel universe, I’ll tell you it sucked… Winter Soldier and Iron Man 1 are probably Marvel’s two best movies. I feel like [Civil War] beats both of those movies. It’s really, really good. Because it’s more of an acting movie than an action movie, I feel like the story is very concise and interesting, and you get to see Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans and Scarlett Johannson and Mark Ruffalo and everybody just do really, really good acting. And then there’s action in it. The great thing about being in a Marvel movie? They have really good actors. I mean, Don Cheadle is in the Marvel Universe!"
So was Mackie speaking in general or will Banner and/or his green alter ego be making an unexpected appearance?

If there is a Hulk-sized surprise in store, don’t expect Marvel to comment on it now after playing its cards so close to the vest for this long. With or without Ruffalo, Captain America: Civil War arrives in theaters on May 6.
