Yep, Christopher Nolan’s masterpiece sequel to Batman Begins (2005) takes the top rank in this list of the highest earning Batman films.  The movie opened up to strong numbers, but after news got out that this was the movie to see for 2008 — partly due to Heath Ledger’s phenomenal performance as The Joker — tickets became sold out for two weeks straight.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice may not need that much good word-of-mouth marketing to get it to this level.  People may rush into theaters just to see the novelty of Superman and Batman on-screen together for the first time.
