We have the synopsis of the 14th episode of Gotham’s second season!

Gotham finally returns tomorrow from it’s Winter hiatus with episode 12, “Mr. Freeze”! But let’s get ahead of the curve with a synopsis of episode 14!

That’s right, we have a vague idea of what will happen two episodes from now! I’d say spoiler warning, but honestly I feel the description here is vague enough that it doesn’t really spoil anything that might have happened in the previous two episodes. Here’s the synopsis of episode 14 of Gotham, season two, “This Ball of Mud and Meanness”:

"Alfred and Selina help Bruce on his quest to find his parents’ killer, Matches Malone (guest star Michael Bowen). Meanwhile, Gordon follows up with Edward Nygma on Kristen Kringle’s whereabouts and Hugo Strange (guest star BD Wong) continues his treatment to reduce Penguin’s aggression.Guest Cast: Carol Kane as Gertrud, BD Wong as Dr. Hugo Strange, Stink Fisher as Helzinger, Ian Quinlan as Strike Force Pinkney, Tonya Pinkins as Ms. Ethel Peabody, Jamar Greene as Cupcake, Lori Petty as Jeri, and Michael Bowen as Matches Malone."

So episode 14 marks several noteworthy appearances. The first appearance of Cyndi Lauper, who’s casting was announced awhile ago. And more notably, the first appearance of Matches Malone. Matches Malone surfacing is Gotham at this early period of Bruce’s life has caused some controversy among fans, as Matches Malone is an alias Bruce Wayne oftens uses to infiltrate the criminal underworld of Gotham, and how can Bruce Wayne ever impersonate Matches Malone if he’s already at least a middle-aged adult when Bruce is still a teenager? Also of note is Carol Kane returning as the dead Gertude Cobblepot, but that’s most likely in some sort of flashback or dream sequence with Penguin still in Arkham Asylum. Gotham returns tomorrow with episode 12, “Mr. Freeze”, and episode 14 “This Ball of Mud and Meanness” is set to air March 14th on Fox!
